One of the biggest changes from high school to post secondary is moving a way from home. As exiting as moving out can be it can also make you feel homesick especially when your new room dose not feel warm and welcoming. Most dorms are small with white cement walls and basic boring furniture. A huge part to making your dorm into your second home is with the right decorating. However Tuition is not cheap and you might not have a large budget, so here are my top tips for decorating a small space for cheap. LightingDorm rooms tend to be poorly lite and a easy way to make the space bright and welcoming is by adding decretive lighting. Great options to decorate and light up a dorm include lamps and string lights which can both be found for cheap at Walmart or amazon. I personally love the way fairy lights and my Himalayan salt lamp brighten up my space with a warm glow. Posters and TapastrysAnother good way to decorate your dorm is to cover the boring blank walls with something fun and more 'You'. Posters and tapestries are a great way to personalize your space and their are millions of inexpensive options for posters. A hack to decorate your walls for free is to cut out the images from a old calendar and use them as posters. I used this hack in my dorm with my quote posters which I gave new life from a calendar. OrganizeA dorm room can feel small and it can be hard to find a place for all of your things. One of the keys to making a dorm feel more cozy and spacious is by organizing. Some of my favorite tips for organizing a small space is using plastic dressers and cute containers to keep your mess hidden. Another tip is to fold and organize your clothing to fit in limited space. DIY decorationsA great way to personalize your dorm with out breaking the bank is with homemade decorations such as paintings and other cute DIYs. Cozy Blankets and PillowsA easy way to make your dorm more cozy is with some fluffy throw blankets and pillows. which can be picked up for cheap at a Walmart or home sense. A great addition to your dorm is a back rest pillow for long nights of studying.

One of the best ways to achieve smooth, shinny, healthy looking hair is by treating your hair properly from the very beginning of the styling process. Styling your hair starts right in the shower and how you wash it can effect the rest of your good or bad hair day. Here are a few tips on how to create a good hair day in the shower. Cold Water We all know heat can damage our hair and we avoid using heat styling tools, but did you know that washing your hair in hot water can damage your hair!! Heat can dehydrate your hair and cause split ends so as much as we all love a long hot shower, when washing your hair try to stick to as cold a temperature as you can. You Use WHAT Shampoo?? Another way you could be damaging your hair without knowing it is by using too harsh a shampoo that strips your hair of its natural oils, its best to look for a shampoo that is Paraben and Sulfate free, my personal favorite is the Live Clean Hydrating Shampoo which is 97% plant based. Another thing to consider when shampooing your hair is to focus the shampoo on your scalp and let the suds run down to the ends, shampooing the ends of your hair will only dry them out. Why You NEED A Shampoo Brush! If you have't heard about shampoo brushes you are missing out. These plastic handheld brushes are designed to message your scalp in the shower and super inexpensive. Not only dose a shampoo brush provide a relaxing scalp message in the shower in also helps stimulate blood circulating in the scale which encourages hair growth; if you suffer from dry hair it stimulates the oil producing glands, naturally moisturizing hair, and if you have dandruff or build up a shampoo brush can help get rid of any flakes or build up right at the hair follicle. you can get this one from amazon for only $4.20!! How are you using your conditioner?? One mistake people tend to make when applying conditioner is they apply it all over their hair like shampoo. Conditioner should only be applied from the ear down, applying it to the roots will just weigh your hair down ruining your volume. Another common conditioner mistake is rinsing it away immediately, with conditioner you should let the product soak into your hair for at least a minute. My current favorite conditioner is the Aussie Miracle Moist Conditioner, which is perfect for dry hair and will leave your hair feeling silky smooth. Not Terry Cloth!! When you get out of the shower do you wrap your hair in a terry cloth towel? Terry cloth towels absorb too much of your hairs moisture and the rough texture cause friction with the hair cuticle causing frizz and breakage . You are much better off using a microfiber towel or if you don't want to invest in one a old tee shirt works just as well. If you have a interest in Fashion and history, you must take a trip to the South-West corner of Bloor and St. George to visit The Bata Shoe Museum. The Bata Shoe Museum is a hidden gem in Toronto and often gets lost in the mix with the AGO and The ROM, but is personally my favorite museum in the GTA. The Bata Shoe Museum has been in Toronto since 1995 and is home to Mrs. Bats's collection of over 13,000 shoes and related artifacts reflecting 4,500 years of history. If its your first time visiting the museum I would recommend starting in the basement at their permanent exhibit, "Footwear Throughout the Ages". This is where the majority of the shoes are kept and they are arranged in a timeline that is easy to follow just start on your left. This exhibit is beautiful with a fascinating history, not only dose this exhibit show the beautiful shoes designed for Marilyn Monroe and glitzy peep-toes from the 20s, it also shoes shoes that were designed for function throughout history. This exhibit is full of shoes you would never of imagined such as , boots made from human hair, Chestnut chrushing clogs from the 1800s and much more. the exhibit is not just about fashion, but a rich history in footwear. Also, in the downstairs exhibit to the right is one of my favorite parts that speaks to the child in me. A small collection of Fairytale themed shoes, this section has a fictional history of shoes such as the big shoes from, There was a old women that lived in a shoe, doll shoes and my favorite, different versions of Cinderella's slippers from all around the world. This year the new featured exhibit on the fourth floor is, "WANT- Desire, Design and Depression Era Footwear". This exhibit is absolutely stunning and is truly a glimpse into the great depression of the 30's. The exhibit is only here till March 2020 so make sure to see it before its gone. The entire space of the WANT exhibit is beautiful cultivated and designed. the exhibit shows a time line of the great depression and how desire was born from the want to escape with film, art and fashion. The exhibit notably displays shoes from cinema such as the iconic Rainbow Platform designed by Ferragamo for Judy Garland and leisure shoes worn by actor Bela Lugosi. Overall, the Bata Shoe Museum is a amazing hidden gem in Toronto that everyone should spend a day at. Its fun for all ages so bring your friend , your family I guarantee you'll have a amazing time and learn a thing or two.

I've always struggled with what to do with my hair and we can all relate with having a bad hair days . One of the most difficult parts of styling your hair and finding the right products for you is most people don't know their hair type. To help you ladies have good hair days everyday heres a quick guide to identify your hair type. The first thing you should know is that hair types are classified with numbers 1 to 4 and a letter from A to C. Also, your hair can be more than one hair type from strand to strand. Type 1 - StraightThe first hair type is straight and isn't classified by different letters. You have type one hair if your hair type is smooth, shiny and has very little texture. Your type one hair is the oiliest of the hair types due to the lack of texture allowing for the oil to move from scalp to ends , making it important to wash well and use dry shampoo. This hair type is also resistant to texture with styling and luck for you difficult to damage. Type 2- WavesType two is waves which are classified as 2a,2b & 2c. Wavy hair is more textured than straight but not as defined as curly hair. Type 2 hair is less sheen and more prone to frizz than type one hair, this hair type is also typically on the dryer side and needs more moisture. Type 2aYour hair is classified as 2a if you har slightly textured thin hair that is easy to straighten and lacks volume. The best styling tip for 2a hair is not to use heavy products that weigh down your thin hair and reduce volume. The best products for your hair type is light water based mousse to add definition and reduce frizz. Type 2bIf you have this hair type your hair is more textured than a 2b, it is usually flatter at the roots and more wavy at the ears down. Your 2b hair type is thicker in diameter and harder to straighten. However, your hair is really low maintenance with the right products, the biggest problem with 2b's is the frizz which can be fixed with a good serum and styling product. Type 2cThe last of the 2 level waves is classified as a 2c which is a thick in diameter wave that starts at the root and has a lot of volume and frizz . If this is you you have dry hair so you will greatly benefit from using Curly girl method approved shampoo and conditioner( sulfate, silicon and paraben free) as to not strip your hair of moisture. For your hair type a good curl cream will work wonders on your locks to create definition, volume and control frizz. Type 3- CurlyType 3 curls are more elastic and bouncy if pulled and are very defined even without product. unfortunately your hair type is the most prone to damages and lack of proper care can dull your curls, so remember to care for your curls. Type 3aIf you have springy loss ringlets around 1 inch in diameter (like a carrot or sidewalk chalk) you have a 3a hair type. Your hair type is easy to style with the right curl enhancing product and scrunching technique. The one thing you have to worry about with your hair type is the lack of moisture, make sure to avoid over shampooing and try a good leave in conditioner once a month, it will work wonders on 3a hair. Type 3bYour hair is classified as a 3b if you have ringlet curls tighter than a 3a approximately 0.5 inch in diameter (like a marker or lipstick). Your hair type is dry and frizzy so it needs similar care to a 3a with washing and conditioning but would be better styled with a moisturizing gel than a cream or mousse because your coarser hair needs something with a stronger hold to keep the frizz at bay. Type 3cThe lat curl type you can be is a 3c which is defined by the smallest ringlets in the 3 section approximately the diameter of a pencil or chopstick. if these sound like your curls you are very similar to a 3b however your main priority is to keep you voluminous bouncy curls out of your face with a good layered cut and you may need to mix and layer product to control these wild beautiful curls. Type 4- KinkyLastly kinky hair is tightly coiled zig zag curl patterned hair that is the driest hair type and the most prone to damages and breakage. This hair classification is also starts right at the root and has the most shrinkage in length from when it pulled straight to its curl state. Type 4a and your haYour 4a hair is the tightest of spirals going in different directions. your hair type is the most difficult to control and its best to let it be natural simply apply a good hair oil such as coconut or avocado right out of the shower to lock in moisture, this will leave your hair looking smooth, shiny and frizz free. Type 4bThis hair type is more tight and angled than 4a and is more coarse. The best thing for your hair if this sounds like you your hair is very dry so a good investment for you is a moisture spray to keep your hair from drying out between wash's. Also your hair can benift from a good curl cream that clumps your curls together for more definition. Type 4cLastly, you could have a 4c hair which is very tight ringlet coils that shrink 50%-75% when dry and almost never stick together. The best thing for your hair is to keep it as healthy as you can using the best products for your hair and keep is moisturized. A good product for your hair to keep it moisturized and keep it frizz free is a curl defining custard. Everyones hair is unique and beautiful, I hope this has helped you discover your hair type and how to style it.
